Excess Inventory

We use our sales and marketing channels to assist OEMs and CMs with selling their unused inventory.

Ready for a partner to manage your excess electronic components?

Whether you have spare board-level components that are no longer needed or extra electronic components from a recent project, we are happy to take on the task of helping you monetize your excess inventory. Our excess inventory management service offers you a variety of options to choose from.

Consignment

Discontinued legacy projects, over-purchases, slow-moving inventory, unexpected design changes, and canceled builds can leave your shelves filled with inventory you no longer need. By consigning with us, your company can be sure that we will sell their excess inventory, all while minimizing holding costs and maximizing return. When we successfully sell the components, you will receive a percentage of the total sale.

Marketing Channels

Our experienced excess inventory team will collect information about your surplus inventory, and we will market your surplus inventory across all our marketing channels, including our website. Our IC and Semiconductor Specialists will handle the sale for you. This way, you can focus on your core business while we take care of the rest.

Lot Purchases

Managing inventory can be a difficult task, especially when large quantities of unused components are taking up space. We are aware of this challenge and have developed a solution in the form of specific purchase lots that are designed to provide cash flow for unused items. By selling these types of lots, your business can add a strong supplemental revenue stream simply by leveraging the existing inventory your business already has on its shelves. Additionally, by selling off excess inventory in this way, your company can optimize its use of valuable warehouse space and ensure that your business always has the supplies it needs on hand.

Line-Item Purchases

At Microchip USA, we also procure entire line items to assist with clearing unused parts that are no longer being used in your project production cycle; this is most common for obsolescence management. We offer a comprehensive procurement solution designed to help you leverage your unused inventory efficiently and profitably. Whether you aim to eliminate outdated parts from your production cycle or optimize your supply chain, our team of experts will work directly with you to find a solution that best fits your company’s needs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We will include your parts in our standard excess inventory program. Your parts will be available on multiple sales channels, and once a buyer has been located, we will contact you to begin the purchase and fulfillment processes.

If your excess is in consignment with us, we will handle all the logistics and shipping of your components. We will also handle the shipping costs of sending your components to us for either consignment or for when a buyer is located. For the surplus that you have on your location, we will contact you and work out logistics from case to case.

We ask all of our clients to give us a target selling price for their components. We understand that having inventory stuck on shelves is not ideal, that’s why we ask from you the ideal liquidation price for each line item you want to sell. If you are unable to provide a target price, then we will pay the current franchise price for your part.

Depending on the service you select, it may vary. If you choose to do either consignment, line sale, or lot sale the inventory would then be exclusive to us. If you choose the marketing service, we will prefer that your parts be exclusive to us. If they are sold in a different way, we would need to be informed of this change.

We will keep your parts listed until we find an interested buyer or until they are no longer available.

There is no upfront or additional costs associated with the parts we market for you.

We would handle the storage and logistics, you’ll also receive 40% of the revenue generated by your sales, so there is a potential for more upside while you focus on your core business. Keep in mind, Microchip USA never takes ownership of the components. With the marketing service option, we will pay you based on your target selling price or the current franchise price depending on the information you provide us.

We can repackage your product using one of our highly accredited third-party lab partners. We recommend the Consignment option so we can handle the storage and logistics, allowing you to focus on your core business more efficiently.
